After months of testing, Alstom and SNCF Voyageurs presented the first French hybrid train
Launched in 2018 by SNCF Group and Alstom SA (Alstom), the first hybrid electric-diesel-battery regional train will be presented at the Alstom Reichshoffen site, beginning its final test phase on the French national railway network. Eight months of testing has demonstrated that this new train’s recycling and reuse of breaking energy will reduce the train’s energy consumption by up to 20%. In addition to these environmental improvements, a zero-emission mode will also be tested on urban routes. As the train is still in testing phases, the commercial service is expected to start in 2023.
Product Innovation|ESGIn response to volatile demand in the wake of the first COVID-19 surge, the company undertook a comprehensive cost reduction program, aimed at shoring up labor and supply costs.
