Capri announced guidance on stores across North America related to the pandemic
Similar to other handbag, luggage and accessory stores in the US, Michael Kors, Jimmy Choo and Versace were all deemed unessential and were forced to close in March 2020. The majority of stores were reopened in July 2020 and the company saw a massive spike in online engagement for their three brands, with online sales for Versace and Michael Kors almost doubling compared to 2019. Additionally, as stores reopened the company implemented several measures to make employees and customers feel safer. Capri trained all store employees on health and safety protocols, as well as conducted health screenings and temperature checks. The company also provided personal protection equipment to employees and placed hand sanitizer in all stores. Additionally, all stores were required to social distance and utilize contactless payment only.
COVIDIn response to volatile demand in the wake of the first COVID-19 surge, the company undertook a comprehensive cost reduction program, aimed at shoring up labor and supply costs.
