Animal Farming in Europe industry analysis

Cattle, pigs, poultry and sheep comprise the vast majority of the animals reared in Europe. The industry is contending with widespread per-capita consumption falls in both meat and milk consumption. Farms are facing swelling pressure from environmental groups due to the level of greenhouse gas emissions associated with cattle as well as backlash over intensive farming methods. This pressure has added to rearing costs as new facilities and land investments have been required to raise welfare standards. However, demand for lean meats like chicken and turkey is surging as more health-inclined consumers swap out fattier meats like lamb and pork, offering some growth opportunities.
