Over the past five years, high school retention rates have continued to improve, but the pace of this growth has noticeably slowed. While positive momentum remains, the gains each year have become more modest compared to earlier periods of rapid progress. This suggests that many of the most accessible improvements have already been achieved, and further advances are proving more challenging. Schools and districts are still making headway, but the incremental nature of recent gains points to a maturing system reaching a plateau.
